WICHITA, KANSAS

Only a few years after the consolidation and expansion of their facilities into the former Flight Safety building at Central and Webb in Wichita, MKEC found themselves in need of additional space to accommodate their growing firm.  This two-story expansion provides space for approximately 70 additional employees.  The building is designed for future expansion which could provide for 100 more people.  The building design borrows something from each of the other buildings on MKEC’s campus.  The building form and materials are sympathetic to its context.  The functional organization of the building is derived from the successful layout of the former Flight Safety building.

The City of Blackwell, Oklahoma recently upgraded its fairgrounds facilities accommodating the Kay County Free Fair and other community activities. The project included improvements to the existing Livestock Pavillion and the construction of a new Expo Building.

TEAM Architecture - LLC worked with Johnson Controls, Inc. to expand and upgrade their lab testing capabilities at the Norman, Oklahoma campus.  This expansion and upgrade is needed to verify compliance with new product regulations requiring higher efficiencies and lower global warming potential.

TEAM Architecture - LLC worked with Comfort Homes, Inc. on the design of this remodel for Star Tool, Inc. The remodel project includes provisions for handicap accessibility and upgrades to existing restrooms and reception areas.

DICKINSON, NORTH DAKOTA

Oil production has increased significantly in this area of North Dakota due to new technologies.  There is currently a shortage of pipeline infrastructure to transport the crude oil to market.  The Bakken Oil Express solution to that problem is this Crude Oil Rail Loadout Station.  Crude oil is trucked to this site where it is temporarily stored until it can be loaded on rail cars for shipping to market.  TEAM Architecture-LLC assisted with the architectural design for the 800 ft. long rail loading facility where the primary concern was safety, incorporating detection, alarm and ample exiting systems.  Supporting the Rail Loadout facility is a small maintenance shop and a small office building.

SEDGWICK COUNTY, KANSAS

Zernco, Inc. is a growing construction company.  They were renting their office location near Augusta, Kansas.  As they outgrew their office space, they searched for a new home that they could own and transform to meet their needs.  This building sits on some acreage just outside Wichita’s city limits allowing for the future addition of support buildings on the site.  The existing building, designed as a dinner club, was completely gutted and a new office layout generated to meet Zernco, Inc. needs.  New conference rooms and a new vestibule were constructed outside the confines of the existing building to create a new focal point from the street intersection to the northwest.

WICHITA, KANSAS

Integrated Consulting Engineers, Inc. is a local mechanical & electrical engineering firm.  They were preparing to relocate to this building owned by the partnership.  While the building had a great location, it was lacking in its presentation to the street.  Prior to the move, ICE wanted to upgrade the finishes in the building and create a better presence and more welcoming entry from the street.  The solution was to “carve out” a new entrance from beneath the existing roof structure while creating a raised facade to call attention to the new entrance.  The new structure provides a backdrop for ample signage.  Restrooms were upgraded for accessibility and finishes were updated throughout.

WICHITA, KANSAS

Approximately 20 years had passed since this building, MKEC’s original home, had been updated.  TEAM Architecture-LLC worked with them to design a new reception area to create a more attractive and more functional space.  New glazing systems were installed to separate the previously open atrium from work spaces to address acoustical concerns.  The west wall of the atrium space received new stone veneer to enhance the natural appearance of the space.  The main conference room was updated to include stone veneer, new ceiling treatments and new lighting. New carpet and paint were installed throughout the remainder of the facility.

SEDGWICK COUNTY, KANSAS

OxyChem was in need of a new Security Office to oversee the access to the plant facilities.  Phase I of the project involved the construction of this new office, located so its personnel can oversee vehicular traffic passing through the adjacent gate as well as pedestrian traffic accessing the building.  New fencing and turnstiles were added to better control pedestrian access.  A new canopy was incorporated to provide protection for the pedestrians at the turnstiles.  Phase II (shown in the renderings below) calls for an additional canopy designed to generate a new appearance for the main entrance to the existing facility.  The materials and forms used for the new office and canopy additions borrow from the existing facilities, tying the old and new together. 

WICHITA, KANSAS

The Art Park is made up of a collection of small businesses offering a wide range of classes and activities for the whole family to enrich the mind, body and spirit.  Their concept has become very popular and they were in need of additional space to accommodate the number of tenants desiring to become a part of their campus.  This 5,000 sq. ft. building with full basement  addresses the need.  The building was designed to fit in the context of the existing campus.

WELLINGTON, UTAH

The Program for this oil field truck transfer station called for a multi-functional facility as it is the hub of all site activities. The main entrance leads to the office area which was stretched out in a linear arrangement to allow the oversight of yard activities. The Reception area is at the center of activity and is adjacent to a Conference Room. The secondary entrance is intersected by a corridor from the main entrance and leads to the field worker support facilities including a Lunch Room, Toilet Rooms and Locker Rooms. The equipment maintenance area is adjacent to the support facilities. The Electrical Room houses electrical equipment serving the entire site.

EDDYSTONE, PENNSYLVANIA

This oil transport operation calls for the installation of a Crude Oil Rail Unloading facility on the site of an existing electrical power plant along the Delaware River.  Associated with the Rail Unloading facility is this multi-use Operations Building.  The building is divided into two primary areas serving two types of users.  The front portion of the building receives visitors and serves conferencing and office functions.  The back portion of the building serves those operating the Rail Unloading facility.  This area houses Locker Room/Restrooms, a Break Room and Kitchen for field workers.  The Control Room monitors all site activity while the Supervisors Office and Shop provide support.

NEW TOWN, NORTH DAKOTA

The New Town Station is a crude oil transfer station to assist with the transport of crude oil from the Bakken region in North Dakota to market. Crude oil is trucked to this site where it is temporarily stored until it can be loaded on rail cars for shipping to market. The site includes a rail car loading building, an operations building and a fire pump building.
